News update:

December 2014:

This year was fantastic! I still have a lot of stories to post on here from 2014! Hopefully I'll get time to before NYE!

I am involved with some great new projects too. As usual though, I can't say much about them until they're completed.

Crystal ball: The new year brings travel ;)

To everyone I have met and worked with in 2014: Thank you for your support!

Happy Holidays!

Back to the Blog!

Okay lets get back to the BLOG! I can't catch up all in one post so the next few posts will be a mixture of looking back over 2014, and posts about what is happening now.

Start with a small piece that i like from earlier this year:

Here is a board a painted for Drustan Ward using Boarstix paint pens. On a sweet Bestever/JP board. Other paint pens are available but none as good for painting on surfboards or many other surfaces.

Local surf legend Drustan is known for a spitfire shark graphic so I did him a full metallic one, complete with engine valves. Painted using Boarstix paint pens only, no spray.

Other paint pens are available but none as good for painting on surfboards or many other surfaces.

If you want to buy Boardstix paint pens in the UK, get your surf or skate shop to contact me to stock them and arrange a demo. cosmicimages@live.com

WW1 art at Hearlands

This summer I spent a few days with pupils from Pool Academy in Cornwall, creating some big artwork.

The first project was to paint a freestanding streetart wall with a World War 1 theme at Heartlands during an armed forces day.

The artwork we made was well received and a large number of people stopped us to comment.

Many commented on their surprise at the age of the artists and the powerful messages in the art.

Open Art Surgery

In September we ran an "Open Art Surgery" on the Moor in Falmouth as part of Healthwatch Cornwall's open day.
Members of the public could take part in a drawing, painting or sculpture workshop and point out any areas in which their art skills needed improvement.

They were then given a "prescription" that included a repeated art excersize that would help their skill most in need of improvement, and some art materials best suited to their needs.

The aim of our workshop was to create awareness of Healthwatch Cornwall, who listen to the experiences people have of local, publicly funded care, whether good or bad, and uses this evidence to help inform and influence the commissioners and providers of services.

We were busy all day and had a very positive response from all participants and Healthwatch Cornwall.

Nola's Ark

Decorating No.4 Restaurant for an amazing St Agnes Carnival this August. Nola and Vasey own the restaurant. It was Nola's birthday and all their friends dressed as animals and partied with the thousands that descended on the village to reggae supplied by the Dub Drenched Sound System.

Pulled Pork Power!

Just before heading off to Boomtown I painted this mobile oven van for Cornish events catering team, Nomad.

It's already pootling around Cornwall to weddings and parties!

West Briton Masthead Competition

I am so pleased to announce this.

This week's cover holds the story. Next weeks' will have the illustration!
My artwork just won a huge public vote competition to be the first ever West Briton newspaper masthead illustration to mark the launch of this year's Truro Festival.
The artwork I created will replace the usual  masthead on the cover of this coming Thursday's edition of the Truro and Mid Cornwall West Briton, something that has never happened in the newspaper's 200 year history.
I am very happy about this indeed!

I was up against three other artists, all published illustrators who are based in, or from Cornwall: Caroline Pedlar who's work has been published in over 50 books, Nick Brennan an comic illustrator and cartoonist for many famous titles including Dandy and the Beano, and Keith Sparrow, a highly published illustrator and Manga style comic artist.

My work for this was produced on a 6ft canvas using Boardstix paint pens and Pentel markers and then resized on Photoshop to fit the top of the newspaper front page. Even this is a lot smaller than my usual work and probably as small as i would like to work with this much detail.

To celebrate I'll be turning up in various locations to produce drawings for people for free. There will also be some of my artwork on display and some canvases that I have produced to recent demand.

The first place I will be at is at Aggie Newsagents 8am Thursday 3rd April, then the West Briton stand at Truro Festival, at Truro Lemon Quay from 10am on Saturday 5th April.
